The trip

An Indian discovery holiday which will delight every member of the family, taking in the history, culture and colours of Rajasthan, historic Delhi, a tiger safari and the iconic Taj Mahal.

Jodhpur Mehrangarh flute copyThe experience

First stop on this Rajasthan family holiday is Delhi where you’ll explore both the old and new town, historic buildings and vibrant markets. You’ll visit Jama Masjid mosque, the Sikh temple and historic monuments including Humayan’s Tomb. The overnight train to Udaipur will show you a side of India that few tourists get to see albeit in the comfort of first class sleeper berths. You’ll learn to love sweet spicy tea sold by the chai wallah. In Udaipur you’ll explore this lovely city and its famous lake, then head to the famous blue city of Jodhpur, where Mehrangarh Fort will take your breath away.

Jaipur, your next stop, is rich in history and culture, from the famous Palace of Whispers to the huge and beautiful Amber Fort with its series of intricately decorated courtyards. You’ll experience artisan skills like block printing that are so important to the region’s economy, and take in a Bollywood film – without subtitles – at the famous Raj Mandir theatre. There’s also the option of visiting an elephant protection reserve. From Jaipur you’ll head direct to Agra and the famous Taj Mahal. You might worry that this most famous of monuments won’t live up to expectations; but don’t. It will surpass them. This trip has an optional three-day extension with a tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park.
